She taught Sunday School at St. Luke's United Methodist Church while living in Oklahoma City. She was passionate about education and challenged her students to do their best. In 1966 the Norman High School Year Book was dedicated to her. It said, “She led the student body by sponsoring at various times, the Gingersnaps, junior and senior classes, and the Student Council. Her students considered her a friend because of the warm interest and sympathy she has given, not only in their school work, but in their personal lives as well. She has been a teacher in touch with our generation; one who has understood our problems and needs. Above all, she has shown great dedication in her teaching. She has instilled in her students an appreciation for literature which they will carry with them.” While a student at the University of Oklahoma, Nadine was a member of Tri Delta and the University Debate Team. She was president of the YWCA and in 1931 was voted Freshman Queen. In 1935 she received the silver Letseizer Medal.
